  1.     *********** IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS *************
  2.          READ THIS NOW TO COMPLETE INSTALLATION!
  3. Welcome to the PC PictureBox Sampler. This screen saver
  4. includes several images from each of our collections. To
  5. order the complete collections, see the order form at the
  6. end of these instructions. To print this file, select the
  7. File Print command in Notepad.
  8.  
  9. HOW TO START THE SCREENSAVER:
  10. Your screen saver program has been copied into the
  11. Windows(tm) Desktop of the Control Panel.  However, it has
  12. not been activated.  Activating your screen saver is easy,
  13. and requires three steps as follows:
  14.   I.   Load the Control Panel
  15.   II.  Run the Desktop option
  16.   III. Select the "PictureBox" screen saver
  17. =========================================================
  18. I.   Load the Control Panel
  19.  
  20. The Control Panel is generally found in the MAIN group of
  21. your Program Manager.  Execute the Control Panel by double
  22. clicking the Control Panel icon.
  23.  
  24. If you cannot find the MAIN group or the Control Panel
  25. icon, you can run the control panel from the File Manager
  26. by double clicking CONTROL.EXE in your main Windows
  27. directory (usually called WINDOWS).  You can also run the
  28. control panel by pulling down the "File" menu item in the
  29. Program Manager and selecting the "Run" command.  Enter
  30. CONTROL.EXE in the run dialog box.

  33. II.  Run the Desktop option
  34.  
  35. After you have started the control panel, you will see a
  36. series of icons.  One of these icons will be labeled
  37. "Desktop".  To run the Desktop option of the control panel,
  38. double click the Desktop icon in the Control Panel.

  41. III. Select the "PictureBox" screen saver
  42.  
  43. When you start the Desktop option of the control panel, a
  44. dialog box will appear.  Look in the middle of the dialog
  45. box for the 'Screen Saver' options.  Next to the "Name:"
  46. option, you will see a down arrow.  Click on this arrow
  47. with your mouse to see the list of screen savers on your
  48. computer.  Select the PictureBox screen saver from the
  49. list.  The exact name of the screen saver will be the
  50. same as on the installation disk.  You can also select
  51. from the list by using the down arrow key.  If you want
  52. to see the PictureBox screen saver right away, you can
  53. press the "Test" button.  Select the OK button to close
  54. the dialog box and your screen saver is now activated.
  55.  
  56. SETTING YOUR PASSWORD AND SCREEN SAVER DELAY
  57.  
  58. You can set the number of minutes before the screen saver
  59. activates by entering a number into the "Delay" option of
  60. the desktop dialog box.  If you select the "Setup"
  61. button, you can select a password that must be used before
  62. the screen saver will stop and pass control back to your
  63. windows programs.  This security feature will prevent
  64. other people from using your computer while your screen
  65. saver is activated.  You can also set if the screen saver
  66. can be deactivated by moving the mouse.

  68. REMOVING THE PASSWORD SECURITY DIALOG BOX
  69.  
  70. If you are using the password feature, a dialog box will
  71. appear if you press a key or move the mouse. The buttons
  72. will appear in different colors depending on the colors
  73. used in the pictures being displayed. If someone tries to
  74. use your computer while you are away, the dialog box will
  75. remain on the screen to inform you that someone has tried
  76. to use your computer. To remove the password screen, you
  77. need to press the key combination of ESCAPE TAB TAB SPACE.

  79. SETTING THE VIDEO MODE
  80.  
  81. It is recommended that Windows be running in a 640 x 480
  82. in 256 color mode.  If the screen saver does not display
  83. the pictures in the proper colors, you will need to
  84. change the video mode by running the Windows setup
  85. program.  You can do this in DOS by switching to your
  86. Windows directory and entering the command "SETUP" or you
  87. can click on the SETUP icon in the MAIN program group in
  88. Windows.  In order to view the pictures as full screen,
  89. the video mode needs to be set to 640 x 480 in 256 color
  90. mode.  If you do not see such a video mode listed, you
  91. will not be able to view the pictures properly.  You can
  92. also use a higher resolution video mode, but your
  93. pictures will not fill the screen.  Check with the
  94. manufacturer of your video card.

  143. USING OTHER SCREEN SAVERS
  144.  
  145. You can also use the images in this package with other
  146. popular screen savers like Microsoft Scenes and Second
  147. Nature screen saver products.  These other products will
  148. allow you to modify the way that the pictures get displayed.
  149. You can also add together images from different collections.
  150. Install the screen saver normally, then you can use the
  151. image files that end with a .JPG extension in the
  152. installation directory.  Follow the directions that come
  153. with the other screen saver programs to add the .JPG images.
  154.  
  155. USING THE IMAGES IN OTHER PROGRAMS
  156.  
  157. You can use shareware programs such as Paint Shop Pro to
  158. convert the JPEG image files to a picture format that is
  159. compatible with your other applications. The .BMP format is
  160. common for Windows applications. Once you have created a
  161. .BMP file, you can edit it with Paintbrush and use the image
  162. as a wallpaper. You may use the images in this package for
  163. your own personal use. You may not distribute or use the
  164. images for any commercial (for sale) purpose.

  166. UNINSTALLING THE SCREEN SAVER
  167.  
  168. If you wish to remove the screen saver from your hard
  169. disk, you will need to delete the contents of the screen
  170. saver directory. You will also need to delete three files
  171. in your windows directory.  Look for two files that begin
  172. with the first four letters of the installation
  173. directory.  For example if the screen saver is installed
  174. in C:\SEAPICT, then look for two files that start with
  175. "SEAP" in your windows directory.  Delete these files and
  176. PGX.INI from your windows directory.  You can also run
  177. UNINSTAL.BAT from the original installation disks. You
  178. also need to select "none" as the screen saver in the
  179. Windows control panel.
